AFRELEC: TAQA Arabia, MAN Energy to pioneer green hydrogen in Egypt
As Egypt aims to push forward the production of the renewables MAN Energy and TAQA Power signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to begin a pilot project that will produce green hydrogen for use as a fuel by tourist buses, MAN said in a statement.
The MoU allows MAN Energy to provide technical information to TAQA Power to use electrolysis to produce hydrogen, with the pilot due to run until autumn 2022. .
REM: Mainstream inaugurates 145MW so- lar project in Chile
Mainstream Renewable Power has officially inaugurated its 145MW Rio Escondido solar farm in Chile. The project was inaugurated by Chile’s UnderSecretary of Energy, Francisco López
The project, in the Atacama Desert, will be able to power 194,000 homes. Rio Escondido consists of more than 436,000 solar panels on 430 hectares in the district of Tierra Amarilla in the sun-scorched desert.
ENERGO: Russian RusHydro major sees more risks in Far East
Russian state hydropower holding RusHydro could see a sharp rise in the prices of coal for its Far East thermal power plants (TPPs) Ner- yungrinskaya and Artemovskaya, with the pur- chasing price ofcoal rising by 176% and 105% year on year respectively, according to Kom- mersant daily.
