Five binding bids expected for Belgrade airport concession
One company and four consortia are reportedly still in the race for a 25-year concession to operate Serbia’s largest airport, state- controlled Aerodrom Nikola Tesla (ANT), and are now expected to submit binding bids.
The concession aroused a high level of interest, with 27 companies responding to Belgrade’s public call for the airport concession. All of the companies still competing have considerable experience in the aero industry and airport management.
According to the daily Politika, the consortia comprise Meridiam Eastern Europe Investments, a consortium of French and Zurich Airport and French Eiffage; Indian GMR Infrastructure Limited and Greek Terna; Incheon International Airport Corporation, Yatirimlari Ve Islatme and VTB Capital Infrastructure; and, a Chinese consortium of HNA and China National Aero-Technology. French Vinci Airports plans to bid alone.
Chinese company Sinohydro has temporarily suspended the construction works on two motorway sections in Macedonia due to a series of problems, media reported on June 20.
The agreement with Synohydro was signed in 2013 during the ruling of the conservative VMRO-DPMNE party which is now in opposition. The new Social Democrat-led government also promised fresh investments in road infrastructure projects.
Work on the Miladinovci-Stip motorway in eastern Macedonia were suspended due to unresolved property issues and several infrastructure facilities that need to be relocated.
The Estonian parliament, the Riigikogu, on June 19 ratified the agreement setting out rules for carrying out the Rail Baltica project.
The Rail Baltica project seeks to re-establish a direct connection between the Baltic states and the European railway network,
to bring one aspect of the region’s isolation from the rest of the EU to an end.
