"From May 11, we will reopen all kinds of production. In addition, we will open all kinds of retail and wholesale stores that have outdoor entrances and do not sell clothes and shoes,” he said, adding that the reopening did not apply to malls.
Separately, all restrictions on entry and exit to Tbilisi are to be lifted from May 11. In addition, according to Gakharia, post-lockdown movement will be resumed on May 14 in Rustavi and Gardabani, and on May 18 restrictions would be lifted in Marneuli.
Georgia’s industrial production increased 8.4% in the first quarter of 2020, easing from a 12.2% y/y rise in the fourth quarter last year, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
Production expanded at a slower pace for manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors. Meanwhile, output rose in the mining and water supply and waste management sectors.
