JGC awarded FEED Contract
for the LNG Plant for
Maritime Fuel in Oman
JGC announced today that it has been awarded a Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract under a triple FEED competition scheme for the LNG Plant
for Marine Fuel that TOTAL E&P OMAN DEVELOPMENT B.V., a 100% subsidiary of the French company Total S.A., is planning in the Port of Sohar in Oman, in partnership with Oman Oil Company S.O.A.C.
is project consists of FEED services to construct a new medium-scale LNG plant with an annual LNG production capacity
of 1,000,000 tons in Sohar, one of the
largest industrial zones in the Middle East, approximately 200 kilometers to the west of Muscat, the capital of e Sultanate of Oman. Growing demand is expected as marine fuel
since the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is set to introduce environmental regulation for maritime fuel in 2020.
During bidding process, it was highly evaluated that JGC experienced many LNG plant construction worldwide and delivered proposal making use of the small / medium- scale LNG plant concept, which is promoted under JGC’s Medium-Term Business Plan “Beyond the Horizon.”
JGC has been responsible for constructing LNG plants that account for approximately 30% of global LNG production. Currently, JGC is executing a total of three LNG plant construction projects, including a large- scale LNG plant in Canada, as well as FLNG (Floating LNG) plants o the coast of Malaysia and o the coast of Mozambique.
Going forward, as the world’s foremost LNG contractor, JGC will continue to develop its strong business activities in the eld of small / medium-scale LNG plants construction in addition to conventional, large-scale LNG plants.

Qatargas delivers 3000th LNG cargo to Japan
Qatargas, the world’s Premier LNG Company, today announced a historic milestone as it successfully delivered the 3,000th Lique ed Natural Gas (LNG) cargo to Japan since the rst ever Qatari shipment was delivered to Kawagoe LNG Receiving Terminal on 10th January 1997.
Commenting on this historic achievement, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy A airs, President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum, and Chairman
of Qatargas Board of Directors, said: “we are delighted to celebrate the 3000th LNG
delivery to Japan. is signi cant milestone comes over two decades following the rst delivery to our foundation customer in Japan. Qatar, as the largest LNG producer in the world, is committed to delivering LNG safely and reliably to our customers across the globe.”
His Excellency Minister Al-Kaabi added: “Qatargas’ commitment to serving Japan’s energy needs has never been stronger. we are focused on boosting future cooperation with Japan, and building even stronger relations with our Japanese customers and friends.”

e 3000th LNG cargo, which was transported onboard ‘Al Jasra’, a conventional LNG vessel with a capacity of 135,000 cubic metres, was delivered to JERA, a joint venture between Chubu Electric and Tokyo Electric. e cargo was delivered to the Kawagoe LNG Receiving Terminal, owned and operated by JERA.
Qatargas has term contracts to supply LNG with many of the key Japanese buyers including JERA, Tohoku Electric, Kansai Electric, Chugoku Electric, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Toho Gas and Shizuoka Gas. Apart from these term contracts, Qatargas also delivers
a signi cant amount of Japan’s spot LNG requirements.
