Multiple media outlets and rights organisations were banned in Uzbeki- stan following the protests in Andijon in 2005 - the protests ended in a massacre, placing the country’s international image in a negative light.
The newly accessible websites include those
of Voice of America, the BBC's Uzbek Service, Deutsche Welle, Eurasianet and the Fergana Agency, among other media outlets. The sites include those belonging to rights groups Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Report- ers Without Borders.
