IOG reports gas find at Harvey well
Independent Oil & Gas on September 12 said initial results suggest a 49-foot gas column at the Harvey appraisal well in the UK North Sea.
IOG has drilled to 7,537 feet at Harvey, into the Permian Leman sandstone reservoir. Two 90 foot cores were taken, and initial work of wireline data suggests the 49 foot column near the top of the reservoir.
e company will now analyse the other data, with the results then used to assess the future of the well. If IOG can go ahead with a low-cost subsea development, Harvey is close enough to tie-back into the Blythe platform.
CEO Andrew Hockey said: “We have now con rmed a gas discovery at Harvey and are kicking o the analysis required to reach a de nitive view on resource range, reservoir quality and deliverability. We
will then evaluate Harvey’s development potential in the context of our core project, which will be fully-funded at farm-out completion.
“Our gas hub strategy implies a relatively low commerciality threshold for this discovery, which lies in the heart of our core asset base close to the Thames pipeline. We are also pleased to report the drilling rig has seen no health & safety incidents to date.”
IOG signed a farm-out in July with CalEnergy Resources Ltd, which can acquire 50% of Harvey within three months of the completion of an appraisal well.
On Monday, IOG announced it had raised EUR100 million in a ve-year senior secured bond issue, which was one of the conditions of the farm-out that needed to be completed.

e bid was submitted a er a tender was launched in January this year for four blocks covering an area of over 12,000 square km in the region.
e agency will now review the bid

Equinor’s Tordis, Vigdis
fields to stay active for
longer
e Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Equinor consent to use the facilities on the Tordis and Vigdis elds beyond the approved lifetime.
Equinor’s applications refer to the basis for continued safe and pro table operation of the elds a er the consents expire in December 2019 and March 2024, respectively.
Tordis has secured consent until December 31 2036 and Vigdis until December 31 2040. is means that the facilities will operate
for a total of 34 years longer than originally presumed.
“Utilisation of the facilities on Tordis and Vigdis beyond the original lifetime will contribute to increase value creation on the Norwegian shelf, and that’s good resource management,” says Arvid Osthus, Assistant director, Development and operations, Northern North Sea.
Equinor is the operator of the elds, both of which are located in production licence 089 in the Tampen area in the northern part of the North Sea. Stat ord, Snorre and Gullfaks are the closest neighbours .
Tordis is developed with a central subsea manifold tied to the Gullfaks C facility. Seven separate satellite wells and two subsea templates are connected to the manifold. Vigdis is developed with seven subsea templates and two satellite wells which are tied to the Snorre A facility.
Tordis has produced since 1994, and a subsea multiphase pump was installed in 2007 to increase recovery from the eld. Vigdis started producing in 1997, and the plan is to also install a subsea multiphase pump on this eld in 2020.
Current licensees on both elds are Equinor, Petoro, ExxonMobil, Idemitsu Petroleum and DEA Norge.

Klaipeda LNG terminal
imports 1.4 times more gas
in August than Lithuanian
demand
e year 2019 at the lique ed natural gas (LNG) terminal in Klaipėda controlled by
KN is highly e cient - during the rst eight months of this year, a total of 10.2 TWh, or 70%more gas was regasi ed and reloaded than during the same period last year. In August, the volume of regasi cation at the LNG terminal signi cantly exceeded the targets set by the Company at the beginning of the year.
In August alone, 1.5 TWh of LNG was regasi ed, 136% more than during the last August. is amount is 1.4 times higher than the total consumption in Lithuania. During the eighth month of this year 1 large and 5 small LNG carriers came to the LNG terminal. Majority of LNG (88%) was delivered from a gas liquefaction plant in Norway.
“Not only the impressive scope of operations, but also the 100th ship-to-ship LNG transhipment operation that took
place in Klaipėda on the last day of August, proves that the model of operation of the LNG terminal based on third-party access, chosen by Lithuania, is sound. During almost ve years of operation of the terminal, KN has succeeded in expanding the operation
of the LNG terminal, providing not only LNG import and regasi cation services, but also LNG re-export services. Gas was also supplied to the LNG reloading station, which was opened at the end of 2017. Because of
it, we provide a wide range of small-scale LNG reloading services, as well as supply
the Klaipėda Oil Terminal with cheaper imported gas through the LNG terminal. It is important that diversi cation of operations and attraction of new terminal users from neighbouring countries not only opens up the possibility for gas consumers from Baltic countries to make optimal use of the cheaper gas period, but also optimizes the operational costs of the LNG terminal, thus allowing our domestic gas consumers to pay less for the maintenance of the Terminal,” emphasizes Arūnas Molis, Head of Klaipėda LNG Service of KN.
Back in July, the users of the LNG terminal had booked the terminal’s capacity till the end this year. It is planned that similar volume of operations will be maintained at the Klaipeda LNG terminal during the upcoming months as the users of the terminal actively booking the capacity of the terminal for the winter period.
It is planned that 6 LNG carriers will arive
