4.5.2 Nominal wages dynamics
Real wages in Ukraine rose 10.2% y/y in July, slowing from 12.9% y/y growth in June, the State Statistics Service reported on August 27. The average monthly nominal wage amounted to UAH14,345 ($527), growing from UAH14,313 in June, or 0.1% m/m in real terms.
The leaders for average monthly wages were the City of Kyiv (UAH20,956), and Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk (UAH15,287) and Kyiv (UAH14,543) regions. The largest average nominal wage increase was in hospitality and catering services (52.5% y/y), health care and social assistance (30.5% y/y) arts, sports and recreation (39.5% y/y), as well as other services (30.5% y/y).
Within the industrial sector, the highest growth of nominal wages was production in rubber and plastics (21.6% y/y), machinery (21.2% y/y) and textile industry (20.8% y/y)
Real wages in Ukraine rose 12.8% year on year in June, slowing from 16.8% y/y growth in May, the State Statistics Service reported on July 28. The average monthly nominal wage amounted to UAH14,313 ($525), growing from UAH13,499 in May, or 5.8% month on month in real terms.
Construction salaries will rise by up 40% over the next two years, as builders more to lure home some of the 1mn Ukrainians working in Central Europe in construction, Kodetsky said. By increasing construction salaries by one third, builders can bring home up to 300,000 Ukrainian construction workers, estimated the president of City One, a major Ukrainian developer.
