5.2.1 Import/export dynamics
Ukraine has boosted exports of agricultural produce this year compared to 2020, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports. As of August 25, exports the 2021/2022 marketing year (MY, began on Jul. 1, 2021) reached 6.488 million tonnes, which is 127,000 tonnes more than in the same period last MY. Ukraine exported 3.127 million tonnes of wheat (-778,000 tonnes compared to the relevant period last MY), 2.164 million tonnes of barley (+256,000 tonnes), 6,800 tonnes of rye (+6,000 tonnes), and 1.172 million tonnes of corn (+640,000 tonnes) .It also exported 19,300 tonnes of flour (-13,100 tonnes),
China remains Ukraine’s largest single nation trading partner for the second year in a row according to Ukraine’s State Statistics Service. Ukraine’s trade in goods with China surged during the first half of this year, hitting over $10.5bn worth of goods. The trade turnover between Ukraine-China accounted for $15.4bn in 2020, which was $3bn more than in 2019, the Kyiv Post reports.
Ukraine has exported over $4.9bn worth of goods and imported $5.5bn worth of goods from China since the beginning of 2021, according to the State Statistics Service.
Overall, Ukraine had a $103.5bn worth of total trade turnover in 2020, including $49.3bn worth of exports and $54.2bn worth of imports.
