New car sales jumped by 28% during January-July, compared to same period last year, reports Ukravtoprom. Of the 58,100 new cars on Ukraine’s roads, the sales leaders were: Toyota, Renault, Kia, Skoda and Hyundai. At current rates, Ukraine will import half amn cars this year.
Large truck sales are up 73% yoy, to 2,746, reports AUTO-Consulting. The company tracked sales of trucks weighing over 3.5 tons from January to July, compared to the same period last year. “Road construction continues to be the market driver,” the analysts wrote. “Dump trucks are sold like ‘hotcakes.’” The top five brands are: MAZ of Belarus; MAN of Germany; Scania, Ford, and Volvo.
More than 17,000 cars illegally imported from the EU were legalized
during a 6-week low tax amnesty that ended July 31, reports the State Customs Service. More than $22mn in duties were paid. The leading regions for car legalizations were: Zakapattia – 2,797; Kyiv – 1,539; Odesa – 1,487; Chernivsti – 1,455; and Lviv – 804.
Used car imports jumped by 40% during the first half of this year,
compared to January-June of 2020, reports Ukravtoprom, the car industry association. In June, used cars accounted for 80% of first time car sales. Of the 195,5000 used cars sold, the most popular brands were: Volkswagen, Ford and Renault
The Zaporizhia Automobile Building Plant, or ZAZ, is to start assembling Mercedes-Benz buses, board chairman Nikolay Evdokimenko announced.
