GLNG
NEWS IN BRIEF
GLNG
  undertaken efficiently and safely.
Christian Strahlmann, managing director
at Elbferry GmbH & Co., was satisfied with the achievement: “As a result of the safe and regular fuel supply for our ferry, we are able to offer our customers a scheduled service and contribute to the well-being of both the environment and the people in the region.”
The LNG is transported by truck from the LNG terminal in Zeebrügge to Cuxhaven. Beforehand, the LNG was shipped to the terminal in Belgium from Qatar, where it
is produced from conventional natural gas sources. Soon LNG from renewable biogas liquefaction plants in Germany will be available. Both supply companies, GasCom and Liquind, are working on setting up their respective facilities.
The managing directors of the LNG suppliers, Norbert Scholz (GasCom) and Christian Schneider (Liquind Marine), highlighted the smooth cooperation throughout the past months: “Right from the beginning, all parties involved have pulled together and achieved the secure and efficient execution of the bunkering service. Today, those operations are routine for all participants, and we are looking forward to continuing our cooperation with the ferry operator.”

Klaipedos nafta preliminary revenue for July 2021
The preliminary sales revenue of the company’s oil terminals for July 2021 comprises EUR1.6mn and is lower by EUR0.8mn or by 33.3 % compared to July of 2020. The preliminary sales revenue of the Company’s oil terminals for the seven months of 2021 comprises EUR12.4mn and is lower by 33.0 % compared to the same period of 2020.
The preliminary sales revenue of the company’s Klaipeda LNG terminal for July 2021 comprises EUR2.7mn (during the same
month of 2020 – EUR3.6mn). Klaipeda LNG terminal revenue from regulated activities consists of the regasification tariff fixed part (for booked annual capacities), variable
part for amount of re-gasified LNG and reloading revenue. The level of Klaipeda
LNG terminal revenue (for booked annual capacities) does not depend on regasification volume. Revenue is confirmed by the National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) based
on the approved methodology of state- regulated prices in the natural gas sector and is calculated for the whole upcoming year. The preliminary sales revenue of Klaipeda LNG terminal for the seven months of 2021 decreased by 20.2 % compared to the same period of 2020. The main reason for the lower revenue is proportionate reduction of security supplement in 2021, based on the surplus
of LNG return from the period 2014-2019, which was established for the regulated activities of the Company, and is equal to EUR1.9mn.
The preliminary sales revenue of the company’s commercial LNG activity for July 2021 comprises EUR0.2mn and is at the same level compared to July of 2020. The preliminary sales revenue of the Company’s commercial LNG activity for the first seven months of 2021 comprises EUR1.5mn and is lower by 6.3 % compared to the same period of 2020.
Total preliminary sales revenue of the company for January-July 2021 amounts to EUR34.5mn and is lower by 24.8 % compared to the same period of 2020 – EUR45.9mn. KLAIPEDOS NAFTA, August 06, 2021
Safely expanding
LNG bunkering and
storage: a step towards
decarbonisation in the
shipping industry
RINA has been awarded a framework contract
by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) to support initiatives to increase
the availability of LNG in the medium term with small scale bunkering and depots to expand the use of this fuel throughout the Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Seas.
This important, strategic project is aimed at reducing environmental impact by making LNG more widely available for a variety of uses including ferries, cruise ships and tourist activities, as well as promoting LNG road supply chain.
RINA will provide a flexible selection of services dealing with safety and feasibility to match project needs in different locations. Angelo Lo Nigro, Energy Engineering Solutions Senior Director at RINA, said: “LNG is an important fuel on our way to decarbonisation. The services we will be providing as part of the frame agreement with EMSA will help make LNG storage and bunkering available in port areas and will also bring consistency and guidance for economically developing nations that do not yet have strong experience with small scale LNG.”
The services provided by RINA will help Port Authorities determine which locations are feasible, both in terms of safety and technical and financial viability, to install small scale LNG bunkering or depot facilities. RINA is providing a total of eight different services, from which each Port Authority can choose according to its goals. The activities include gap analysis of regulatory frame
and evaluation of applicable standards, feasibility study, definition of risk acceptance criteria, site analysis, nautical analysis, hazard identification, quantitative risk assessment, and ship collision risk study.
