UAE assures Indian over oil, LPG supply
e UAE has moved to assuage India’s concerns over oil and LPG supply disruptions following recent supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Indian Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted that UAE Minister of State Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber assured him that supplies of the fuel would continue to ow. e two o cial also discussed collaborating on e orts to strengthen the two countries hydrocarbon ties.
Pradhan tweeted separately that he
had spoken to OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo who rea rmed India’s importance to the organisation. e issue of stronger energy ties was once more a topic of discussion.
GSPC extends auction deadline
Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. (GSPC) has reportedly extended the bid-submission deadline for 12 on- and o shore blocks on auction.
e Times of India quoted unnamed company o cials as saying that this was the auction’s third extension this year and that GSPC was hoping to attract state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC), GAIL (India), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) to bid on the blocks.
e sources said the majors were likely to receive board approval to bid in July.
“ e last date for bid submission for the GSPC blocks has been extended from June 17 to July 17,” said a GSPC o cial. “ONGC and GAIL have o cially communicated to GSPC and sought more time as they are awaiting third-party due diligence report. Also, these central PSUs want more time as they are waiting for board approval for the process.”
ONGC moves rigs ahead of monsoon season
India’s state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC) has moved 35 o shore drilling rigs to new locations ahead of the country’s monsoon season.
O shore engineering consultancy Aqualis O shore, which assisted with most of the moves, said each of the 35 rigs was moved before weather conditions deteriorated.
Aqualis O shore group marine director Rodger Dickson said: “Moving 35 rigs in such a short time frame to new locations before the onset of the southwest monsoon is quite an achievement and this sets a new ONGC record in terms of number of rigs moved and distance traveled.”
e rigs traveled a combined distance of 2,535 nautical miles (4,695 km).
India-Nepal complete oil product pipeline
A cross border pipeline designed to pump oil products from India to Nepal has
been nished and is almost ready to enter operation.
State news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) quoted Petroleum Pipeline Extension Project Simara engineer Sharad Poudel as saying on June 18 that a technical examination of the 70 km pipeline was underway.
“ e works related to hydro-test, radiography of pipes joined by welding, taking X-ray at the points where the pipes have been joined and removing the rust in the pipe through scan-plast have started with the completion of the pipeline laying works,” Poudel said.
e pipeline runs 32.65 km from India’s Motihari City to the border town of Raxaul where it crosses into Nepal and runs 37.25 km to Nepal’s Amlekhgunj town.
IOC seeks LNG cargo
Indian Oil Corp. (IOC) is seeking an LNG cargo for delivery on an ex-ship (DES) basis on August 22, Reuters reported on June 19, citing two unnamed sources. O ers are due by June 19.
