Welcome to the Wild West: Gangsters in Turkey have lately been shooting each other.
Halil Falyali, the Northern Cyprus-based master of money trafficking, was assassinated in a neat operation that, so it’s said, could only have been executed by a sovereign state.
The Turkish army is responsible for all-security affairs from soldiers to police and firemen in the island while all other states see Northern Cyprus as under Turkey’s invasion.
The assassination team has disappeared without trace. Later on, Turkey arrested some usual assassins, who are famous for not talking, and found some Kalashnikovs in the island.
There is yet an explanation on how these “assassins” brought Kalashnikovs to the island and then returned back to Turkey after they did their job.
Everyone is sure that this case will be solved with all details.
Some other gangsters were also assassinated or shot in Turkey.
Gungor Arslan, owner and columnist of the Ses Kocaeli site, was killed in an armed attack at his office on February 19. Arslan has long been subject to physical and armed assaults due to reporting on local corruption in Turkey’s Kocaeli province.
Turkey has become the main source of fake designer clothing and medicine stopped at EU borders, outdoing China in these categories, in 2020, according to the annual report by the European bloc’s intellectual property office, EUIPO.
