The ruble has continued to strengthen in the early part of the year. ​The exchange rate of the ruble has gradually strengthened from its previous low of late 2018, reports Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition (BOFIT) in its weekly round up.
At the beginning of this year, the average exchange rate of the ruble against the dollar was about RUB62 and against the euro about RUB69. The ruble has appreciated against both by about 10% y/y. However, the ruble is still clearly weaker than its previous peak at the beginning of 2018.
