4.4.2  Nominal wages dynamics
Real wages in Ukraine grew by 8.1% year-on-year in June,  accelerating from 7% y/y growth in May, the nation's state statistics service Ukrstat reported on July 29. The average monthly nominal wage amounted to UAH10,783 a month ($407), increasing from UAH10,239 in May, or 5.8% month-on-month in real terms.
The leading regions for average monthly wages were the city of Kyiv
(UAH15,650), the Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk region (UAH12,483), and the Kyiv region (UAH11,130).
The largest nominal average wage growth was in recreation services
(32.2% y/y), information and telecommunications (25.5% y/y), industry (21.8% y/y) and health (21.8% y/y). Within the industrial sector, the highest nominal wages were in pharmaceuticals (UAH18,443), coke and oil production (UAH16,212), and mining (UAH15,289). Kyiv-based brokerage Concorde Capital forecasts real wages to climb 9-10% y/y in 2019 (vs. 12.5% y/y in 2018).
About 3.2mn Ukrainians permanently work abroad,  about 18% of the nation’s economically active population, Hromadske reports, citing a new macroeconomic study drafted for the Finance Ministry. Last December, in a nationwide poll by Rating, 35% of the 40,000 respondents said they want to work abroad. About one third said they want to earn money to open a business in Ukraine.
The revenues of the population of Ukraine in January-March 2019 amounted to UAH 803.4 billion, expenses some UAH 852.4 billion,  while savings decreased by UAH 49 billion, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to the agency, in January-March 2019 compared with the same period in 2018, the nominal income of the population increased by 15.5%.
