4.0 Real Economy 4.1 Industrial production
Industrial production rises 16.2% y/y in 2Q18
Georgia’s industrial production increased 16.2% y/y in the second quarter of 2018, up from 13.5% rise in the previous quarter, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
Production expanded for mining and quarrying (30.6% in 2Q18 from 12.9% in 1Q) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (16.6% in 2Q18 from 7.5% in 1Q). Meanwhile, production slowed for manufacturing (15.1% in 2Q18 from 16.7% in 1Q) and water supply sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (11.9% in 2Q18 from 14.9% in 1Q).
Industrial production y/y in Georgia averaged 13.2% from 2000 to 2018.
