“It takes a little bravery to be different,” says Glazer, who’s from New Jersey but doesn’t “flaunt it.” He left his home state to pursue a dubious dual career of professional boxing and stand-up comedy. He bounced at clubs, tended bar, and interned at WFAN radio, but it was on his first day in the Giants’ locker room for the Post when Glazer had
an epiphany. “I decided I’m not going to use my pen as a weapon,” he recalls. “I’m going to build relationships. Over time, I’ll have more scoops than anybody.”And that’s exactly what happened.
Every work day for the next six years, the fledgling jour- nalist hitched a ride home through the Lincoln Tunnel with
the man who’s still his best friend, Giants legend Michael Strahan, whom Glazer lovingly describes as “a goofy guy from Germany with bad teeth and a speech impediment.” He’s very serious, however, about the lessons he learned from the methodical, ever-prepared athlete. “Greatness doesn’t just happen,”he says.“You make your lucky break happen.You make greatness happen by outworking every- body else.”
Glazer’s big break came at CBS in 1999. At the time, he was moonlighting as an MMA fighter, cruising to Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall for night fights that left him with black eyes, crooked noses, and broken ribs in the morning.That look didn’t fly when he joined FOX Sports in 2004, and the network threatened to pull him from the air if he didn’t quit.
