Hop aboard in L.A. and take a 19-day cruise (Oct. 16–Nov. 4) down the coast of Mexico and Central America, through the Panama Canal, and up the Caribbean to Miami.

Canyon Ranch—the wellness brand that invented the modern-day luxury spa resort back in 1979—is coming to Silicon Valley. Opening this fall, Canyon Ranch Wellness Retreat Woodside (canyonranch.com) is set among the towering redwoods about a half hour outside of Palo Alto. A game changer for the brand, the property will feature more upscale accommodations (including luxury treehouses set high among the branches) as well as revamped fitness, spa, and culinary programs.

Visiting Antarctica usually means joining a large cruise ship or spending handsomely on a private charter. This fall, the expedi- tion company Pelorus (pelorusx.com) is bridging the gap, offering single cabins on its 254-foot superyacht Legend. Running from December 6–13 and 13–20, the trips are priced at $55,000 per cabin, or one- tenth the cost of a charter.
