Going for the Gold
Meet the jewelry genius who can make any bling dream come true.
There’s nothing subtle or understated about Jason Arasheben. The L.A.-based jeweler—better known as Jason of Beverly Hills to his devoted A-list clients (who have included everyone from Rihanna to Dwyane Wade)— has become Hollywood’s king of bling for his full- speed-ahead and over-the-top designs dripping in diamonds and gems.
“I really believe that fortune favors the bold,” says Arasheben, who has retail locations in Las Vegas, Miami, Charlotte, and Tokyo, in addi- tion to his private showroom in Beverly Hills.“I’m always pushing [and] striving for more, but I always come back to two things:We listen to what the customer wants and focus on projects that are orig- inal and design driven.”
Original might be an understatement. The designs that have put Arasheben on the map range from a pair
of diamond-laden shoes he created for Nick Cannon to wear on the season finale of America’s Got Talent (those came with a price tag of $2 million) to a diamond-covered iPhone case with an owl on
it for Drake. If you can dream it, he can design it, whether it’s a tyrannosaurus rex on a gold chain, a black-and-white- diamond turntable on a ring, or a miniature soccer-jersey pendant—all of which he has completed for private clients. He estimates roughly 350 professional athletes are on
his client list, and he’s become the NBA’s go-to jeweler. He produced the 2009 and 2010 championship rings for the Lakers and all three rings for
the Golden State Warriors. Like a professional
athlete, Arasheben uses his growing stature to hone his skills further. “We’re approaching
a point where we
can’t get any bigger,
and [our] designers
now have to focus
more on the inno-
vation and design
of the rings than
ever before,” he says.
Still, there’s one brass-
ring client Arasheben has yet to add to his roster. “Cristiano Ronaldo is one athlete I would love to de- sign a piece for,” he admits. Diamond-encrusted soccer cleats perhaps? In Jason
of Beverly Hills’ world, you learn to never say never. jasonofbh.com
