Brother Tom Carroll Vice PrincipalNewsSchoolTHE NEW FACES OF LEADERSHIPWith the recent retirement of administrators Mr. Gary Jennrich, Mrs. Linda Clark, and Mr. Virgil Daniel, Padua took a step back to rethink the administrative model. Afer signifcant research and discussion, a new administrative structure has been put into place beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. We will continue to maintain the President and Principal model with a variation added on the academic leadership side. What once was two positions, the Dean of Students and the Dean of Academics, has now been replaced with three new positions. Directly under the role of the Principal will be a Vice Principal. Te Vice Principal will oversee students with special academic needs and will assist the Principal with the daily operations of the school. Brother Tom Carroll will fll this role. Brother Tom will also continue serving as the school liason for fnancial aid and as a Spanish teacher. To oversee the daily behavior and academic concerns of the school, two Assistant Principal positions have been created. Te new Assistant Principal for Young Men is Mr. Robert DiRocco. Mr. DiRocco was the Dean of Students at St. Peter Chanel before being hired here at Padua in 2008. For the last nine years, Mr. DiRocco has taught Teology, served as the Teology Department Chair, worked in Campus Ministry, and coached several sports. Mr. DiRocco earned his Master of Education in Administration from Scranton University. He will work primarily with our young men and will also oversee the emergency procedures and the safety plan for our school. Our new Assistant Principal for Young Women is Mrs. Elizabeth Oles Smith. Mrs. Oles Smith has been an English teacher at Padua for 11 years. During that time she has also been a moderator, coach, and has directed our Key Club program. She earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Ursuline College. She will work primarily with our young women and assist our faculty with curriculum and professional development. Both Mr. DiRocco and Mrs. Oles Smith bring a great compassion and spirit to our administrative team. Tis new structure provides a dynamic way for us to deal with student concerns in a more holistic way. “As our young men and women navigate the waters of adolescence, it is essential that we continue to provide strong role models especially in the area of leadership. Tis is a very innovative approach to a coeducational environment. I know that Brother Tom, Mr. DiRocco, and Mrs. Oles Smith will have a positive impact on our students in these new roles,” said Principal David Stec ’86.Mr. Andrew Shuman ’95, Director of Counseling, and Mrs. Rachel DeGirolamo ’02, Director of Communications and PR, have joined the administrative team as well. “It is truly an exciting time here at the school, and I am confdent that this new innovative team approach will help us grow in holiness and learning,” said Stec ’86.Robert DiRocco Assistant Principal for Young MenElizabeth Oles Smith Assistant Principal for Young WomenAndrew Shuman ’95 Director of Counseling14
