The Accident
Her eyelids felt heavy, she could barely wiggle her toes. Finally, she gathered up the strength to fully open her eyes. It was a small space. There were people all around her, poking and probing. It took her a moment to realize she was in the back of an ambulance. She quickly shut her eyes, hoping it was a dream. She drifted in and out of consciousness. The next time she opened her eyes, she was somewhere different. She remained still. Slowly, she began to look around, afraid of what she would see. The lights above her were bright. Sad, muted colors of gray were splattered on the walls. She was in a bed. She could feel the rough sheets scratching her skin. She tried to sit up, but fell back on the flimsy pillow behind her. She felt exhausted and sore, as if there was a hundred pound weight pushing into her chest. With every breath she took, her body shook with exhaustion. Her temples throbbed. She felt helpless. All she could do was be still.

Leaving
I love going to this market place.
The busy bustle of the people around me and the beautiful scenery, it just felt good to be there. Unfortunately, this would be my last time visiting this place of nostalgia.
I still can not believe I am leaving town tomorrow.
I will miss this place and all the memories that I am leaving behind.
I am nervous for the change.
But I made the choice to leave.
And I know the world outside this small town is waiting for me to explore it. Part of me is excited to leave, yet I can’t seem to move my feet from the place I stand.
I take one last look at the beauty that is this marketplace.
I look at all the familiar faces passing by me.
As I start to walk back to my car, my feet begin to sink into the soft ground. Almost as though the earth is telling me to stay.
I continue to walk, I get in my car and start to drive.
And I never looked back.

Play Me
You played me like a guitar:
Plucked my heartstrings,
Kissed my neck,
Held my body close to yours.
You picked until your finger were blue And the music you played grew boring. The chords sounded off key
And then, just like your instrument, You set me aside.
A Not So Traditional Tale
Once upon a time there was a strong warrior who traveled through magi- cal lands. One day, this traveler came across a tower and heard someone crying for help. The tower was hard to climb, and so the warrior whistled bringing forth a dragon. The dragon flew the warrior up to the top of the tower. The warrior climb through the window to find that a handsome prince had been trapped. With the help of the dragon, they both flew down back down to the ground. The prince was so happy, he asked the warrior to remove the helmet so he could see the man who had saved him. The warrior removed the helmet and to the prince’s surprise the noble man who had saved him was none other than a noble woman, a beautiful princess in fact. The prince was so ecstatic about meeting such a beautiful princess, he demanded that she moved to his kingdom, so they could get married. The princess kindly declined, telling the prince she had more im- portant things to do. Then, without further hesitation, she peacefully flew away on her dragon into the sunset, and she lived happily ever after.

A Modern Fairtytale
In a magical land filled with sunshine and palm trees, lived a famous Instagram model who captured the hearts of many. Her name was Snow White. She was the fairest of them all. The filters she used were always on point and her Instagram theme was aesthetically pleasing. She posted her life for the world to see, but what happened behind the camera told a different story. Snow White had lived a difficult life. She lost her mother as a newborn baby and her father married a new woman. Her stepmother was the purest form of gold, gold digger that is. Although her stepmother had a personality as dull as a rusty butter knife, her face was pretty decent. Whether she was born with it or gained this beauty through multiple pro- cedures, she was attractive to most people. Snow White disliked her step- mother for many reasons, one being that she was jealous of Snow White’s dazzling beauty and popular Instagram following. Her mother made this jealousy extremely evident, constantly throwing shade at Snow White. She always criticized the kind of filter Snow White used or the amount of likes she got in a certain amount of time. One day, Snow White became so fed up with her step mother’s pettiness that she took action into her own hands to stop her deranged step mother.
