3,100 acres of woods, marsh, and ponds.
A popular area for crabbing, boating, and hunting. One of the best-kept secrets along the Delaware-Maryland coast. The preserve was created from nine farms, all lost during the Great Depression and purchased by the U.S. Forest Service.
Beach Plum Island Nature Preserve

Broadkill Beach
This 129 acre barrier island provides habitat for coastal plant and animal species. Enjoy surf fishing, beachcombing, and nature study. Drive south through Broadkill Beach, and you come to the Beach Plum Island Nature Preserve.

Cape Henlopen Drive, past Lewes Ferry Terminal
Delaware’s largest State Park, 13,973 acres of ocean and bay beaches, dunes, pine forests, salt marsh, freshwater wetlands, and Gordons Pond, a coastal impoundment. Located where Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, featuring public swimming beaches, bathhouses, fishing pier, nature trails, camping, bird-watching, nature study, and a World War II Observation Tower. The Seaside Nature Center offers educational programs, saltwater aquariums, and displays. Open daily 8am to sunset.
