“ I intentionally aligned my hyper-focused targets with the DCS teams to ensure we were all working in sync towards the same goal. Adrian (Rodriguez), their DBM, was very supportive with my approach and made sure to include me in his team calls, which helped facilitate collaboration and coordination between myself and the DCS teams,” Iliana says.
A major part of her success was breaking through with a key RGV Accountable Care Organization and staying persistent with Wellmed clinics.
“... I have been able to secure access to key clinics and providers. With the improved access, we have been able to increase awareness and knowledge on overcoming clinical inertia by aligning DM treatment to ADA guidelines as well as review the benefits of the semaglutide molecule, “ Iliana says.
Brownsville DCS Sheralee Six has been one of the benefactors, having held a handful of collaborative lunches with Iliana to learn from her expertise.
“She doesn’t walk in with her plan. She seeks to understand and with confidence, wisdom and compassion, strategizes, develops a plan that helps the patient, the practice and the physician overcome barriers they face managing diabetes, ” Sheralee says.
Executive DCSs like Andy Offreda in San Antonio and Susie Van Susteren from Houston know this all too well having worked with the mother of two since their days as Health Systems DCSs.
“I can't say enough positive things about Iliana. I am truly her biggest fan. When we first started working together in 2019, I was new to Health Systems and had no knowledge of anything to do with WellMed and my health system experience had all come from systems in Michigan. Iliana's knowledge is priceless and boundless when it comes to anything diabetes,” Susie says.
Andy says the best part of working with Iliana is her impact on patients. “Iliana in her role as a Novo Nordisk Educator complements the collaborative customer approach of influencing by guiding clinicians to evidence based treatment protocols to help achieve optimal health outcomes for patients with diabetes, “ Andy says.
