For years now, educators have played a critical role at Novo Nordisk educating healthcare practitioners and patients alike and even Diabetes Care Specialists. After the realignment in 2020, Certified Diabetes & Education Specialists, as they are officially known now, are even more sought after- including Iliana Martinez, who covers the Rio Grande Valley territory. Don’t let the territory name fool you. Iliana’s, sector also includes Laredo and Corpus Christi.
“I think the biggest challenge was just establishing myself as a trusted advisor with so many of my new customers. About 75% of my targets were new to me. My DCS partners helped me tremendously by opening doors for me and genuinely advocating for me with their customers. Without their help, I would not have been able to accomplish all that I have,” Iliana says.
And even with some significant windshield time on occasion, Iliana has managed her territory quite nicely. She noticed early in 2021 the need to be aligned with primary care’s strategy of targeting the top 100. And that has worked out spectacularly well.
