What else might you find inside the typical ancient Egyptian home? Well, let,s go through the front door to have a look.
Wealthy types lived in grand homes which had as many as
30 rooms. If it was your turn to do the vacuuming it could take several months. Luckily, vacuum cleaners hadn’t been invented,
so it wasn’t a problem.
Flat roofs were used for cooking or even sleeping
on. In the hot climate of Egypt it was cooler up on the roof, and poorer peeps would lie on mats in the open air.
There was no glass in
the windows, but there were
bars on them. Why? To keep the wild beasts out, of course – and we’re not talking about particularly hungry moths.
