Needlework, singing, playing a musical instrument and even archery were taught to some girls, but not much in terms of schoolwork.
While the daughters of the Lord and Lady of the castle might be educated a bit, and if a girl became a nun she could get a good education, very few peasant girls would be taught to read or write. In those times it was believed that a woman’s role in life was only to look after a household and a family, not to learn things.
Let’s hear a big “WhOoP!” that this belief is a far less common these days.
