3 PADDLING POOL
We hear the twins before we see them. We’re meeting near the paddling pool. Noah’s standing with his feet wide apart as if they’re glued to the ground, his arms folded angrily.
He’s shouting, “Not coming! Not coming!”
Pearl’s running towards us, her mouth wide open. She sounds like she’s swallowed a seagull and it wants to get out. Mum’s mouth is a little flat line and there’s another between her eyes, going up instead of across. Dad picks up Noah and runs towards me.
