Tom raced after Digby, but the naughty cat vanished just
as they reached a stone bridge, stretching over a wide river.
Shops selling colourful goods were crammed all the way across the bridge and people were buying all kinds of wonderful things.
Where had Digby got to?
Ponte Vecchio means 'old bridge' in Italian. It was built during the period and by the Renaissance had been standing for hundreds of years. Shops were built all the way along the bridge and were originally occupied by fishmongers and butchers.
