 Balls would be held in homes with courtyards or local squares, and houses would be decorated with tapestries and specially-built arches so that they looked as grand as possible. Dancers would dress up in splendid costumes and spectators would be entertained by musicians. Other entertainment for the crowd would include jugglers and   .
The early evening would be lit up by torchlight as a procession travelled through the narrow streets. As it got darker, stunning
would be set off for the entire city to see.
