Dr. Seuss (real name: Theodore Geisel), understood the magic of reading. And his long, silly, rhythmic illustrated poems, such as Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat, were specifically designed with limited vocabulary to help children learn to sound out letters and acquire the skill of reading. They were keys to open the doors.
