   The largest Lantern Festival in history was during the early Ming dynasty and it lasted ten whole days. Each family made their own lanterns from bamboo and paper or silk.
Lanterns were traditionally red to symbolise good fortune and happiness. The person who made the lantern would write a   and put it inside the lantern. Whoever solved the riddle won a gift.
