Decades after she first dreamed of transforming her desert home into a sea
of green, Yuzhen still plants trees, but today volunteers from all over the world come to help her. Yuzhen no longer fights the desert. She has come to accept and love what she once hated. She knows that, although desolate, if treated well the desert can be a source of natural riches. The many trees she has planted feel like her children.
Friends have told Yuzhen that she can rest now, but she is continuing her work for the sake of her
descendants and for the people across the globe who are facing the same huge issue.
We may be from different countries but we share one Earth, and in the fight against desertification, as with all environmental
problems, we are stronger when we fight it together.
