Stability, Retention, & Relapse in Orthodontics
226 pp; 403 illus; ©2017; ISBN 978-1-78698-019-9 (BG125); US $128
This book offers a thorough
analysis of the retention and stability of orthodontic treatment results and outlines the
keys to effective intervention. Tendencies for stability and relapse of orthodontic treatment are covered for incisor irreg- ularity and Class I, Class II, transverse, and vertical problems, as well as orthognathic surgery outcomes. The end result is an understanding of how to develop targeted retention plans for individual patients and how to treatment plan long-term stability with strategic insight.
analysis of the topic from both the periodontal and orthodontic perspectives. The authors
systematically analyze the scientific and clinical interactions of these specialties by reviewing all the available evidence and using case studies to demonstrate principles discussed in theory. The result is a text that outlines the treatment funda- mentals and shows how to improve the therapeutic outcomes involving orthodontic-periodontic interventions.

Strategies and Mechanics for a Programmed Approach to Orthodontic Treatment
160 pp; 441 illus; ©2020; ISBN 978-0-86715- 824-3 (B8243); US $98
While orthodontics has historically been a specialty based on action and reaction, this
book seeks to shift orthodontics to a practice based on systematic movements planned from the start. Using simplified cephalometry and treatment mechanics, the introduced New Straight Wire (NSW) technique uses a table to system- atically calculate and plan the necessary tooth movements before treatment, following the same parameters for each and every patient regardless of malocclusion. The treatment is therefore “veri- fied” before beginning; the teeth can be placed in the planned positions to check that the resulting occlusion satisfies esthetic and functional goals for each individual patient. This approach rules out treatment plans that lead to good occlusion
to the detriment of facial harmony. This book therefore teaches how to achieve Class I molar occlusion with proper overjet and facial esthetics every time, regardless of the pretreatment condi- tion, clarifying when surgery is indicated and when dental compensations may be made instead.

Cephalometry in Orthodontics 2D and 3D
208 pp; 338 illus; ©2018; ISBN 978-0-86715-762-8 (B7628); US $118
This book defines and
depicts all cephalometric landmarks on a skull or spine in both 2D and 3D and
then identifies them on radiographs. Each major ceph- alometric analysis is described in detail, and the linear or angular measures are shown pictorially for better understanding. The final chapter shows the application of these measures to clinical cases to teach clinicians and students how to use them effectively.

Contemporary Cephalometric Radiography
292 pp; 929 illus; ©1996; ISBN 978-4-87417-517-0 (BJ001); US $195
In this book, radiographs
of the skull are juxtaposed with photographs and drawings. Tracing procedures for posteroanterior cephalograms, submental-vertex
radiographic projections, and lateral cephalograms are detailed.

Orthodontic Handbook for Dental Assistants
eBook only
167 pp; 397 illus; ©2018; ISBN 978-0-86715-744-4 (I7444); US $15.99
This handbook covers the basic knowledge of orthodontics and orthodontic treatment necessary for dental assistants, presented with photographs and illustrations that will make topics easy to understand. Each chapter begins with learning objectives and ends with a quiz so that readers can get the most out of the materials presented. Topics include the many types of oral conditions and malocclusion that dental assistants may come across and
strategies to correct them, interacting with patients of different ages and levels of oral hygiene, and all of the different tools and appliances that will be used on a daily basis. This practical manual is invaluable not only for students but for practicing dental assistants and hygienists who want a concise and useful guide to reference in their work.
