Vote 100
A Century of Change? Sadler Room*
Thursday 25 October - Wednesday 12 December
In 1918 the Representation of the People
Act extended the vote to all men over 21, and to some groups of women over 30. Yet more than half of women in the UK still did not have a say in electing their government. Campaigning would continue until 1928 when women were finally granted the vote on equal terms to men.
At the beginning of 2018 Barnsley Museums sent out an invitation to local women artists to respond to the question ‘In 100 years, how have attitudes changed?’ We bring together the response from selected artists in a unique exhibition and celebrate Women in the Arts.
