House Social opened in 2014 and is situated in the ballroom and billiards room of the 1920s Abbeydale Picture House. Serving up craft ales, cocktails, pizza, ping pong and a cosy mini cinema, it’s easy to see why Picture House Social has become so popular.
WHERE TO GO
Millhouses Park: On most weekends, you’ll  nd any number of fun activities taking place in Millhouses Park. For the little ones, the huge bouncy castle and pedal boats usually take centre stage during the summer months, as well as a fun playground and cycle trail to keep them amused. There’s sports aplenty at Millhouses too, with cricket green, tennis and basketball courts, bowls and much more. This park certainly does cater to all tastes.
Ecclesall Woods: For the more adventurous folk, soak up the beauty of Ecclesall Woods. Covering more than 350 acres, there’s plenty for you to explore in this luscious woodland including a lovely café, bird sanctuary and the Abbeydale Miniature Railway. The woods are just as gorgeous in the glorious sunshine as they are covered in snow and you’re bound to have a wonderful time whenever you visit. Take the kids, take the dog or just go for an explore.

Industrial Hamlet makes for a great day out and will provide you with plenty of background about the area. Dating back to the 18th century, Abbeydale Works was once a producer of agricultural tools and the largest water-powered industrial site on the River Sheaf.
It is now a group of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. You can see the Worker’s Cottages, steam engine and the last complete surviving crucible steel furnace in the UK.
