Health staff feeling energised after boot camp
Fighting fit health care staff in Sheffield aim to get and stay in top shape with a new physical regime.
The staff at a Sheffield NHS Foundation Trust (SHSC) are feeling “energised and cheeri- er” following the introduction of weekly ‘Boot Camp’-style fitness sessions to get them in the best condition and aid their wellbeing.
Nearly a year ago Shef- field Health and Social Care (SHSC) went smoke free across all the trust’s sites.
And, to support imple- mentation, a range of ac- tivities were introduced to enhance the health and well-
being of service users as well as staff, including sessions to help staff Move More.
The hourly Boot Camp of the SHSC staff is held at the Longley Centre in Norwood Grange Drive in Sheffield and has proved very popular.
Now, as part of Move More Month, SHSC is look- ing to expand its regular sessions across more sites to open access to even more of its staff.
Exercises are tailored to individual fitness levels and the goals of participants and they focus on core stability, strength, aerobic fitness and agility.
