The financial services industry has traditionally been a male dominated one but at Tenet, 75% of the executive board directors are women. Two of these directors are Caroline Bradley and Keely Craig.
Keely Craig joined Tenet as Group Finance Director in 2017. Trained at KPMG, she has held senior roles for the last 16 years, primarily in the financial sector, and was previously finance director at Skipton Financial Services. She is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
Keely comments,
“I think it’s critical for women to have belief in their ability and aim high. The input of great mentors early in my career made a huge difference to me.
I’m part of a Board that is committed to doing everything we can to promote gender diversity, including a more flexible approach to working, improved maternity pay and an annual salary benchmarking exercise. Since 2017, we’ve reduced our mean gender pay gap by 28% and our 2019 figure of 19.5% is significantly better than the 32.7% average for the financial services sector, although we still aim to do more.
The younger generation of women need to see financial services as a career choice and be supported to develop. In 2019, Tenet had two female winners at the inaugural Yorkshire Finance Awards who both joined Tenet at an entry administrative level. They were supported to progress to skilled technical roles and both have ambitions to become chartered financial planners in the future.”
Caroline Bradley is Tenet’s Group Risk and Regulatory Director. She initially qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant and entered the financial services industry when she joined Yorkshire Building Society in 1996, followed by 11 years at UK stockbroker, TD Direct Investing.
Caroline comments,
“I joined Tenet in 2012 as Group Finance and Risk Director. In 2017, I became Group Risk and Regulatory Director as I was keen to grow personally and diversify my experience. Since that time, I have gained the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning as this is what is required of our financial advisers.
It’s important for me to work in an environment that supports and promotes the financial sector as a career for women. At Tenet, three of the four of our most senior executive directors are women, myself included, plus 59% of our senior manager and director positions are filled by women.
I would see myself as proof that women can progress and thrive in the financial services industry and I have mentored numerous younger women throughout my career to help them do the same.”
