YORKSHIRE POST THURSDAY MAY 23 2019
  2/ SME TOOLKIT SPECIAL SUPPLEMENT
  INTRODUCTION
Partnering key players
Running your own business is one of the most challenging and rewarding things there is, as Mark Casci reports.
technology to manufacturing to retail, Yorkshire firms operate at a world class level.
With a population of more than five million people and over 300,000 businesses, Yorkshire’s £110bn economy is as big as Denmark, Norway or Scotland.
We should be very proud
of what we have in the region, particularly of the fact that this is a first class place to start and grow a business.
At this stage I would like to offer my profound thanks to Holeys Accountants, LDC, Bruntwood Estates, AD:VENTRE, Bramleys Commercial and Wilby Ltd for partnering with us on this project.
I found all of their contributions to be enlightening and useful.
One of the great joys of my job is witnessing first hand the journey that SME owners and staff go on to success.
I find them a true source of inspiration and I have met some of the most creative, intelligent and intuitive people when talking to Yorkshire’s SME community.
All of them know how to create a vision and execute it effectively.
And all of them at some stage had the benefit of a helping hand that provided them with some
of the information you will read about in the pages ahead.
I hope you will find this supplement useful to you and your business.
Again I wish to thank our sponsors and of course to all of you for reading.
It is something many people talk about doing but so few dare to pursue.
Taking the plunge and following your vision to both start and run your own firm takes many things; guts, intelligence,
integrity, phenomenal hard work and patience.
In short there is nothing that you do not have to be good at if you want to run a successful SME.
Thankfully few people who make a success of their own enterprise do this entirely on their own. Yorkshire is blessed with thousands of organisations which can lend a helping hand to making sure that your business is a success, both right now and well into the future.
This is precisely why The Yorkshire Post has partnered up with some of the region’s key players to produce this informative and effective
toolk it to help provide the best information we can to entrepreneurs.
It aims to provide bosses with the best advice on the key areas which impact upon them, answer any burning questions they may have and decide when and if they need any further assistance.
This may come in the form
of technical financial planning, ensuring your technology infrastructure is absolutely up to scratch or getting the best help when it comes to spreading the word about how amazing you and your products and service is.
Getting the right help is not just of benefit to you.
It is vital to the whole economy.
Throughout the history of this proud region, entrepreneurs have been the absolute lifeblood of the economy.
There are currently 908 businesses per 10,000 people in the region.
ECONOMY LIFEBLOOD: Entrepreneurs need a variety of skills. PICTURE: ADOBESTOCK And all of these companies
‘Entrepreneurs have been the lifeblood of this proud region’s economy’
are enriching and improving life for us all through employment, tax revenue and of course the sensational goods and services they provide.
One of Yorkshire’s great strengths is its diversity.
