KOMMUNE
FOOD REVIEW
   KOMMUNE
Castle House, Angel Street, Sheffield, S3 8LS www.komune.co.uk
The latest addition to Sheffield’s booming food hall scene, Kommune brings a “social, all day dining experience” to a Quarter of Sheffield which was in desperate need of regeneration.
Following a £3million revamp of Castle House, and the old Co-Op department store, which had been mostly deserted for a decade, Kommune is part of Kolider Projects’ new joint venture with established city-hipster favourites Peddler, Tamper, and The Depot Bakery.
A place to “work, host, socialise and play”, Kollider also houses co-working space Ko-Work, events space Ko- Host, and the National Videogame Museum.
Kommune occupies the building’s 16,000 sq ft upper-ground floor, filling a wide-open space with cool concrete and Skandi inspired décor. Also on this floor you can visit The Viewing Room
Whether you’re looking for a trendy spot for evening drinks, or somewhere to spend all day absorbed in work
or play, Kommune has something for all appetites.
art gallery, bookshop La Biblioteka, craft beer sellers Hop Hideout, and The Drinks Department – the food court’s centrepiece bar wrapping around an impressive spiral staircase.
Whether you’re looking for a trendy spot for evening drinks, or somewhere to spend all day absorbed in work or play, Kommune has something for all appetites.
Food offerings vary from decadent burgers at Fat Hippo to delicate poke
bowls at Pom, and from traditional British fare at Shoot The Bull to exotic Asian flavourings at Yuki Social Table. We especially enjoyed the Salmon and Dill Pizza Bianco from Baked in Brick, and the Chicken Kathi Roll from Indian street food outlet, Chaat Cart.
Those following vegetarian and vegan diets will be pleased to learn that this is by far one of the best places for a large variety of options in town. Vegan ice cream? Salads, mezze platters and fresh Sunday brunches? Dig in.
During the day, place your food order and pick up a buzzer to be notified
to pick up your meal. In the evening pick a seat first, get up to order, and then enjoy table-service as mouth watering dishes are brought to you in this lively and bustling new favourite of ours.
We just can’t get enough of the latest food court trend!
