Staff throughout our six local offices across the area, have supported a wide range of good causes since
the beginning of 2019.
As the year draws to a close we have taken a look back at some of the caring actions that staff have carried out
in a bid to make the area better for us all.
Claire Kendall, Partner in the firm and daughter of company founder, Richard - who is this year celebrating 50 years in the sector - says hopes are high that 2020 will bring even greater benefits to local charities close to many people's hearts.
Claire helped to round off an impressive year of good deeds for the firm and its staff with the Richard Kendall
Estate Agent’s Christmas card competition, which saw children aged four to 11 from local schools design a Christmas card.
Claire visited the winner, Zara, aged 9, at her school, South Parade Primary School, to present a cheque for £500, and was particularly impressed by the youngsters. Claire said: "It was Lovely to see so many happy smiLing faces at the school - the children were a credit to the school and so very well behaved.
“We are now looking forward to next year and continuing to support our local communities.
A busy year of fundraising saw Claire's brother Simon
Kendall, who is also
a partner in the firm, pound the streets of Berlin to complete the city's marathon in aid of mental health charity, Mencap, in
Richard Kendall Estate Agent's staff have also done gone above and beyond to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance's
Lifesaving work. Rose Silverwood the WakefieLd office and her family were involved in a charity football match which raised over £7000 for the service.
Meanwhile, Sharon Dorsett, who works in our mortgage department, Mortgage Solutions of
Wakefield, along with husband Andy were recognised for the work
they've done over several years with Aire Valley
Harley Owners Group to support the service.
The group won "Individual Supporter Award" at the recent Yorkshire Air Ambulance Recognition Awards after raising almost £25,000 for the charity over recent years.
There was support too for St Gemma’s Hospice thanks to a Motown Christmas Ball which raised £3326.50. Hanna
Mitchell, apprentice at the firm's Normanton office, gave up her time to help her sister ensure the event went well. One of the biggest achievements was a remarkable 22 miles swim undertaken by Jenny Rothery of the firm’s WakefieLd office.
Jenny covered the miles during a 12-week period as part of the Aspire Channel Swim challenge.
Her efforts have helped fund grants to help people with spinal injuries enjoy a better quality of life.
“Everyone involved in raising money for such a range of charities should be proud of themselves," added Claire.
"We work hard to be a responsible and caring business when dealing with our clients, but people might not
realise there’s another side to what our staff do.
“I can't wait to see what we'll all get up to in 2020."
