One of Kelham Island’s latest offerings, Piña is a Mexican bar and taqueria offering a modern twist on the classic taco.
The menu is simple, yet delicious, offering up tacos with a variety of different fillings, alongside a host of Mexican snacks, or botanas.
For something a little different, try the Al Pastor taco which comes filled with Ashiote marinated pork, pineapple, onion, avocado salsa and coriander – absolutely delicious. Or you could try the Baja – beer-battered fish, red cabbage, avocado salsa and white onion.
There is also a full separate vegan menu, featuring plant-based alternatives to the non-vegan menu which are equally as tasty. There’s the Birria, a Jalisco-style braised jackfruit which comes with pickled red onion, or the Chilmole – oyster mushrooms
in charred chilli salsa with radish and ‘sour cream’.
The great thing about this menu is that it’s perfect for sharing. Each option provides you with two tacos, giving you scope to try more of this beautiful food.
For the sides, there’s ceviche – tantalising citrus-cured prawn with tomato and cucumber – or the vegan elote – Mexican grilled corn, ‘sour cream’ and ancho chilli powder.
And of course, who can pass up dessert when churros are on the menu!

There’s also an extensive drinks menu, featuring a whole page dedicated
to margaritas, which come in classic, Tommy’s (a bartender’s go-to from the renowned Tommy’s Bar in San Francisco), and frozen. If that’s not your bag, they have plenty of other beverages for you to choose, from local craft beers to espresso martinis.
With a vibrant interior, filled with
pops of bright colour and comfy furniture, there is a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere throughout the venue which will immediately put you at ease.
There’s also a separate mezzanine area dedicated to sports, providing a nice little spot to watch the latest games.
Piña stays open late, until 2am on both Friday and Saturday, making
it a fantastic place for a catch up over delicious street food and tasty cocktails with that friend you haven’t seen in ages.
