Charities
QEGS supports a variety of local, national and international charities each year, and takes its fundraising role very seriously.
Engaging in fundraising activities enhances pupils’ sense of awareness of others less fortunate than themselves — something they will take with them into later life.
The school’s Charities Committee is represented by pupils from all year groups. A dedicated team
of staff support pupils across the year groups in delivering many different events and initiatives each year. The school not only responds to National
and International campaigns, but also embraces individual initiatives suggested by pupils. Where possible, links are made within the curriculum to educate pupils about the cause and effect of the work of many charities.
Senior students can get involved in voluntary work as part of QED on Wednesday afternoons. This includes working in local schools and hospices.
The school also has a strong relationship with
the Community Awareness Programme (CAP) in Wake eld which supports the needs of the homeless and disadvantaged in the Wake eld District.
Funds are raised throughout the year through different events and activities and, where possible, fundraising initiatives link into major school expeditions.
