Life Goes On At Headspace Leeds
Why people are turning
to Headspace in uncertain times
Life has changed rapidly over the past few weeks in response to the current COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. Many
of us are feeling shock and even loss at the changes beginning to affect our daily lives. Working from home. Schools and universities
closed; final terms lost. Hard worked for exams will not take place. Weddings, ceremonies, milestone celebrations, holidays and special trips have been cancelled. Above all, there is the fear of the virus’s threat to ourselves and our loved ones, not helped by the uncertainty of how long it might be before we feel safe again.
Coronavirus and your mental health
Allow yourself some time to process your feelings about
what is happening. Current government guidelines still allow most of us to go outside once a day for exercise, which can
help boost your mood. If you are feeling anxious, limit your news to trusted sources and limit your time on social media.
Although there is
plenty of material out
there with advice on how
to look after yourself during COVID-19, such as Anxiety UK’s resource pack, we are aware that sometimes that isn’t enough and professional help may be needed.
What do we offer at Headspace?
At Headspace Leeds, we are currently offering our high- quality therapy services online
via videolink and over the telephone. Recent studies have
suggested that online therapy is as effective as face- to-face for common
mental health issues and life events.
Although our central Leeds and Ilkley clinics are temporarily closed due to
Government guidelines, we still
welcome enquiries for face-to-face
sessions for when we are able to open again.
Why Headspace?
Headspace is Leeds’ largest independent provider of counselling and psychotherapy. Founders Mandy Nichols
and Juliet Thornton identified a need in Leeds eight years ago for a centre which
would bring together a
number of highly trained and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists to offer a respected and trusted service. We have 23 therapists, all postgraduate qualified and registered or accredited with
an established membership organisation such as BACP
and we work to their ethical frameworks. Our team members are diverse in experience, training and ways of working, offering you a tailor-made therapy experience, including CBT and couples counselling.
How can online counselling and psychotherapy at Headspace help?
We understand that many people will be facing drastic changes in circumstances due
to the Coronavirus outbreak. Our team of highly trained, professionally qualified and experienced counsellors and
psychotherapists can work with you to talk through your personal challenges, help you understand your emotions, and process the impact on your day-to-day life, work and relationships.
