RADICAL LOVE
On May 14, 1948, against all odds, God held true to His promise—and
it is no less valid for us as His people today.
The pillar seen by the Shulamite coming up from the wilderness is a
portrayal of the strong, unchanging character of God—Immanuel—
who dwells within us. Not by any human might, strength, or power, but
by the Holy Spirit’s power alone shall we be established and given the
necessary strength to walk out the Christian faith.
Joshua 21:45 (NIV) says:
“Not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has
failed; every one was fulfilled.”
If we hold fast to the truths of God revealed in His Word and choose
faith over fear and unbelief, the words of 1 Peter 5:10–11 (NKJV) will
come to pass:
“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by
Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish,
strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion
forever and ever. Amen.”
A further observation suggests that the pillar is emerging from the
wilderness. It was the Holy Spirit’s power that raised Jesus from the
earth to be seated at the right hand of the Father, and when we are in
Christ, we too are seated in the same place (see Ephesians 2:6),
ascended above the wilderness.
