T
he night ended when he had to go to his side of the
neighborhood. So now, it was just me walking to my street.
But when I arrived, I could see someone walking their dog by
Jayson’s house. It looked like a stranger, but also like Jayson.
I still went nearer to the person to see who it was — and it was
definitely him.
Even though I knew he was still angry at me for some reason this
week, I decided to at least say hi to him. After all, I couldn’t just enter
my house while he was right there walking his dog, Perrie.
“Hey, Jayson,” I waved slowly at him.
Jayson turned his face from Perrie to me, looking a bit tired.
“Hi.”
It was a five-second silence after that — and I didn’t like it.
“So, why’re you walking Perrie at this time of night?”
“I couldn’t take her out for walks this whole week, so I might as
well do it now.” He shrugged.
I nodded, and then he gripped Perrie’s harness, changing his voice
to a firm tone. “Where are you coming from at this time?”
“Um…” I sighed, looking all around myself. My outfit looked
pretty much obvious for a night hangout. I’m not trying to say Jayson
is dumb enough not to realize where I’m coming from, but I was
