THAT WASN’T THE PLAN
I really appreciated what Uncle Eddie was doing for me right now.
He’s the only fun, positive, and good family member here. Though
Myra is too, he’s way better.
“Alright.” I trusted him. “My best friend has been angry at me
since this week started. One reason is that I made a ‘get a boyfriend’
plan, and he didn’t approve at all. Either he was jealous, or he thought
it was a bad idea for me because it might lead to trouble.”
“A ‘get a boyfriend’ plan? Kandis, that’s a bit heavy and far for a
girl your age!” He chuckled.
I folded my lips tight, not saying anything. That wasn’t a joke—
my separated friendship with Jayson isn’t a joke.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it as an offense. But if I’m being serious,
getting a boyfriend this early isn’t a good idea. And honestly, things
like that can quietly pull your focus away from what really matters right
now. You’re only sixteen—still growing, still learning who you are.
“This isn’t the time to rush into something just because it feels
exciting or expected. You’ve got dreams to chase, goals to reach, and
so many chances to build the life you want. There will be time for love
later—when you’re ready and when it makes sense. But for now? Let
that plan go. It’s not what you need.”
