THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
“How—did… how the heck did you do that? I literally almost
passed you!”
“I’ve been running track and field my whole life, so it isn’t new or
hard for me,” he panted a little.
He opened the door for us, but before we could enter, he asked,
“But how did you run so fast? You were like a cheetah! I was scared I
couldn’t pass you for a second.”
“Uh…” I stammered, thinking he would laugh if I told him about
my point of view. “I don’t know, I just love running. Sometimes I want
to be a racer—like a car racer, or a runner.”
His eyebrows lifted, full of surprise, like he wanted to say
something—but he couldn’t, because Principal Gabrielle had already
told us to come in.
We all said goodbye and left the office.
Although I expected the principal to bring up the test news to my
dad, she didn’t. And it’s not like I’m desperate to hide it or scared of
him finding out—but almost everyone else already knows. My teacher,
my best friend, even some kids in other classes. The only person left in
the dark is him. And he’s never liked being the last to know, especially
when it’s something I kept to myself.
I guess… for now, I got lucky.
