CHAPTER 4
A
nyway, on our way back to the car, I heard Travis call out
my name. I turned back, and he came up to me.
“Sorry, I just wanted to thank you for the assistance. Now I
know where I’ll go tomorrow.”
I smiled and said, “No worries. See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, bye!”
Honestly, I could feel my face heating up. I mean, this was
probably the first time a guy like Travis—not just cute but actually
cool—ever spoke to me. Like, really spoke. A full–on conversation.
And I wasn’t sure what felt crazier—the way he talked to me like we’d
known each other for years, or the way I kind of liked it.
That same night, I wanted to play a bit of the MS Car Racing game
before going to bed. So, I set up a ten–minute timer, because if I didn’t,
I’d probably wake up late tomorrow—and my dad would rage about it.
I immediately changed into my PJs and went straight to the
computer. As I was racing in MS Car Racing and seriously focused on
the track, a red car sped past me and almost won the game. And it
looked like the same car from the last time I played. When it ended, I
asked him to 1v1 me, and he agreed.
While we were getting our cars ready, I took a sip of my water.
Then he turned on his voice chat and said,
“So… are you shocked that I beat you… again?”
