• Post-Emergent: Do not apply a post-emergent herbicide. Upcoming cool season over-seedings are scheduled for next month and herbicides will be persistent in the soil for at least 30 days and can affect new seed. Round-Up is an exception. Round-Up does not hang around in the soil and can be seeded only days after it has been applied.
• Inspect Lawn for Turf Pests: Armyworms are occasional invaders of our turf grasses in late August depending on weather conditions. They travel in high numbers and do a lot of damage in a very short period of time. Early detection and action is the key to preventing damage.
Tree and Shrub Care
• In ideal conditions, your landscape needs 1”-2” of precipitation during the growing season per week. This can come from rainfall or other means of irrigation
• Inspect Your Landscape- Inspect trees and shrubs for insects and disease pressure.
• Post-Emergent: Apply a non-selective herbicide as needed as a spot spray. Avoid drift
on plants to prevent plant injury.
• Insect and Disease Application: Apply an insecticide to control insects and a fungicide
to control and prevent ornamental diseases.
