FEBRUARY
Warm Season Turf: Bermuda and Zoysia
• Mowing: Warm season lawns are still not active. Unless leaves have covered the lawn, nothing needs to be done. If mowing/mulching needs to be done, do not cut more than 1/3 of the grass blades.
• Watering: Water your lawn as needed in dry conditions . Mother Nature usually helps in the form of rainfall this time of year. This can help provide moisture to the root system which is still active. *Do not water just before a hard freeze as this can cause damage to turf by forming ice crystals on and in the plant.
• Pre-Emergent: Apply a Pre-Emergent to prevent weeds from germinating. The key to a pre-emergent is to apply it before the soil temperatures start to get in the 50’s.
• Post-Emergent: Apply a Post-Emergent to control weeds that are up and actively growing.
