In mid-January of 2024, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development
Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter announced 12 new Site Development Grant recipients designed to help
communities invest in infrastructure and engineering improvements to land economic development projects and achieve
Select Tennessee site certification. Of the 12 grants allocated, the Dyer County Industrial Board was awarded the
largest, totaling $5M.
Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce President Slater Barr said a 200,000 square foot slab already exists on
the 65-acre certified site designated for the project. The lot is owned in equal share by the City of Dyersburg and Dyer
County.
Following the announcement, Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce President Slater Barr said, “We greatly
appreciate the investment by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development in our community.
Their commitment is a testament to the hard work of our local economic development allies such as the City of
Dyersburg, Dyer County, Dyersburg Electric System, and the Industrial Development Board of Dyer County."
